Okotoks, AB (February 4, 2026) – The Okotoks Oilers Organization give thanks to 2007-born rookie forward Michael Mikan (Edina, MN) as he continues his hockey career journey with the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL.

Mikan impressed the Green Army early in his tenure with the Green and Gold as his playmaking ability, scoring touch, speed, skating, compete level, and many more skills were on display at Viking Rentals Centre every time the Oilers hit the ice.

In just 30 games played this season, Mikan was able to produce 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in his first season in the BCHL. Those numbers and his play not only caught the eye of the Oilers faithful, but the league took notice as he was named to the BCHL All-Star weekend in Spruce Grove to play in the Canada vs World game. Mikan wouldn’t be picked for the College Prospects game as he is already committed to an NCAA Division I school in Harvard.

During the Canada vs World All-Star game, Mikan would open the scoring in the tilt, making an immediate impact on the BCHL’s showcase of their top talent.

Mikan, who goes by the nickname “Cowboy,” which can be found in his Extending the Pipeline profile, had an outgoing personality that was felt throughout the locker room and all across the Green Army as he was quick to talk to fans of all ages after game days.

The Oilers Organization wishes Mikan continual success, growth, and the best of luck in his current journey as he continues his road to post-secondary hockey, along with a long career in the sport.
