Oilers sign 2005-born defenceman Nathan Tobey

OKOTOKS, AB (November 13, 2024) — The Okotoks Oilers announced Wednesday that the club has signed 2005-born right-handed defenceman Nathan Tobey (Lantana, TX) for the 2024-25 season.

Tobey, 19, collected two assists in 14 games with the USHL’s Omaha Lancers to begin the 2024-25 regular season. The 6’0″, 172-pound defender previously spent the 2023-24 USHL campaign with the Madison Capitols, racking up nine assists in 59 games.

“Nathan is an experienced junior defender who will help to solidify our group on the blue line,” Oilers head coach and general manager Tyler Deis said Wednesday. “We feel he can help us and we can help him as he prepares to head to Quinnipiac University in the future.”

A product of the Dallas Stars youth development program, Tobey spent parts of two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program to begin his junior career before joining the Capitols in 2023.
