OKOTOKS, AB (September 20, 2024) — The Okotoks Oilers are proud to announce that 2004-born forward Jackson Rowland (Calgary, AB) has been named team captain for the 2024-25 season.
Rowland, 20, collected 25 goals and 57 points in 57 games with the Oilers in 2023-24, including four goals and 12 points in 17 BCHL contests. The 5’10”, 179-pound forward added three goals and eight points in 10 playoff games with the club.
“Jackson is an extremely motivated and hard-working individual who has always represented the Oilers organization with pride and distinction over his time in Okotoks,” Oilers head coach and general manager Tyler Deis said Friday. “We look forward to watching him continue to grow as a player and, now, as our captain in his final junior season.”
Additionally, the Oilers announced that 2006-born forward Brett Wilson (Calgary, AB) and 2004-born defenceman Cyle Clayton (Strathmore, AB) will serve as alternate captains in the 2024-25 season.
Wilson, 18, racked up 24 goals and 46 points in 64 games over his first full season with the Oilers in 2023-24 after making his debut with the club in the 2022-23 season. The 5’8″, 170-pound forward added one goal and three points in 10 playoff games with the Oilers in the spring.
Clayton, 20, joins the Oilers for the 2024-25 campaign after previously playing with the AJHL’s Drumheller Dragons over parts of four seasons. The 5’9″, 175-pound defender collected four goals and 23 points in 53 games with Drumheller in 2023-24, adding on three assists in nine playoff games.
The Oilers’ new leadership group will make its on-ice debut Friday night when the club kicks off its 2024-25 regular season slate of games against the Brooks Bandits at Viking Rentals Centre in Okotoks.
