Okotoks, AB (February 6, 2026) – The Okotoks Oilers have announced the signing of 2007-born forward Ben Deacon (St. Albert, AB) heading into tonight’s game against the Brooks Bandits at Viking Rentals Centre.
Deacon suited up for the Oilers in the preseason in a game against Brooks before heading to the Devon Xtream of the AJHL, where he would earn Player of the Week and be named to the U19 Canada West squad. Deacon would play with former Okotoks Oiler Aiden Bruce (Kelowna, BC) for parts of the 2025-2026 season.
Point production comes with Deacon’s skill set, as he posted 32 points (18G, 14A) in 35 games this season for the Devon Xtreme. Last season, Deacon was a monster with point production as he finished with 63 points (17G, 46A) with the Northern Alberta Xtreame U18 Prep of the CSSHL U18. With the Northern Alberta Extreme, Deacon had the opportunity to play in the Circle K Classic, where he impressed with 10 points (4G, 6A) in six games.
His production last season would earn him the most assists in the CSSHL, and he was named to the CSSHL U18 First All-Star Team on the Prairie side.
Deacon is expected to make his first BCHL regular-season appearance tonight in Okotoks, wearing the number 17 as the Oilers host the Bandits at 7:05 MST.
The Okotoks Oilers are a not-for-profit, community-run junior hockey franchise competing in the BCHL and operating out of Viking Rentals Centre. For more information, visit okotoksoilers.com or follow the Oilers on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram.
