OKOTOKS, AB (February 19, 2025) The 2024-2025 BCHL season series between the Okotoks Oilers and the Sherwood Park Crusaders is tied 2-2 after their tilt on Family Day (Feb. 17) with Oilers coming away with a 4-0 loss at Viking Rentals Centre.

Okotoks had previously beaten the Crusaders on home ice on November 2, with a 5-4 win in their first meeting of the BCHL season. The Alberta rivals then met again on December 14, with the Oilers falling to the Crusaders in Sherwood Park, 9-5. The Oilers took the third game in Sherwood Park earlier this month (Feb. 5) with a 4-3 win over the Crusaders. Both teams now have a win at home and a victory on the road against each other this season.

Olivier Ciarlo (Laval, QC) made 28 saves during the afternoon tilt in his 32nd start for the Oilers.

1,215 fans took in the game at Viking Rentals Centre, including Ryan Lomberg, Stanley Cup champion and current forward for the Calgary Flames.

It took over 35 minutes to find the first goal during Family Day, with Masun Fleece opening the scoring at 15:44 of the second period for the Crusaders. Sherwood Park were then on a 5-on-3 power play a minute later and cashed in twice as Kale Dach, along with Dalton MacGillivray picked up power play markers. The Crusaders picked up their final goal on Family Day early in the third period with Christian Chouha finding the back of the net.

It’s a big weekend for the Oilers as they will face two teams that are currently chasing them in the standings. Friday (Feb. 21) the Oilers will be back on home ice against the Vernon Vipers at 7:05 p.m. MT, and then head to Spruce Grove Sunday to face the Saints, who the Oilers have had recent success against. The game in Spruce Grove is an early start of 2:00 p.m. MT.
