Okotoks, AB (January 10, 2025) – The Okotoks Oilers will head home empty-handed, coming up short in two games this weekend against their Interior East Division rivals.

The Green and Gold were looking to bounce back tonight in Sherwood Park after dropping a 6-3 final last night against the Spruce Grove Saints. However, the Crusaders prevailed, handing the Oilers a 6-0 loss to close out the weekend games.

Unlike last night, where the Oilers heavily outshot their opponents, the Crusaders held the lead in the department as they peppered Okotoks’ netminder, Justin Giguère (Saguenay, QC), with 36 shots during his first-ever BCHL start. Filip Vavro had a relatively easy start for the Crusaders, as he only had to make 18 saves for the shutout.

The Crusaders opened the scoring in the first period with Kent Moors picking up his first of the night. Moors added the 2-0 goal over six minutes into the second, followed by Danick St. Pierre and Joseph Sinclair adding goals in the second frame.

Jude Bray and Maxime Ly finished up the scoring in the third period to close out the game 6-0 for Sherwood Park.

The Oilers will host their first home game of 2026 on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. MST at Viking Rentals Centre as the Brooks Bandits head into town for a special weekday game before heading into the BCHL All-Star break.
