About Us: The Okotoks Oilers are a non-profit junior hockey team dedicated to excellence on and off the ice. We are committed to developing athletes while fostering a positive and competitive environment. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Equipment Manager to support our team operations.

Job Summary: The Assistant Equipment Manager will work closely with the Equipment Manager to ensure the proper maintenance, organization, and distribution of all team equipment and gear. This role is essential in providing support during practices, games, and events, ensuring that players and coaching staff have the resources they need to perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of team equipment, including skates, sticks, helmets, and uniforms.
  • Support the Equipment Manager in inventory management, ensuring all equipment is in good condition and properly stocked.
  • Help with the fitting and repairs of players’ gear, ensuring safety and performance standards are met.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the equipment room and storage areas.
  • Travel with the team for games, providing on-site support for equipment needs.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment for practices and games.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to address specific equipment needs for players.
  • Stay updated on new equipment technologies and best practices in sports equipment management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager or coaching staff.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in equipment management or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of hockey equipment and maintenance.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience sharpening skates and sewing skills are preferred but not required. Willing to train the right candidate.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
