Okotoks, AB (November 29, 2025) – The Okotoks Oilers and the Salmon Arm Silverbacks are set to meet for the first time this season as Viking Rentals Centre plays host.
The Oilers enter tonight after taking down the Coastal East Division’s top-seeded Coquitlam Express 5-3 to start their four-game homestand. The Silverbacks, however, are coming in with a three-game losing streak as they fell last night 4-3 to the Blackfalds Bulldogs and lost twice to the Sherwood Park Crusaders last weekend as they struggled against the Alberta-based teams.
As for the last 10 games in the 2025-2026 BCHL season, the Oilers and Silverbacks are near identical, as the Green and Gold have gone 4-5-0-1, with the Silverbacks producing a 4-4-1-1 record. The Oilers hold the advantage on offence as they have found the back of the net 70 times this season compared to the Silverbacks’ 60. Salmon Arm holds the special teams advantage headed into the game, but the Oilers have Captain Brett Wilson (Calgary, AB) leading the team with 20 points (7G,13A) and Michael Mikan with 19 points (9G, 10A), who have produced more than the Silverbacks’ top scorer, Luke Leppper, who has 14 while playing two more games than the Oilers so far this season.
The Oilers currently sit two points back from the Spruce Grove Saints for the important fourth spot in the Interior East Division and hold a game in hand over their long-time rivals from up north. A win tonight would set the team up well for next weekend as they face the Saints on Saturday and then host the Langley Rivermen for the first time in franchise history.
Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. at Viking Rentals Centre. For tickets, visit: https://tickets.okotoksoilers.com/events/37869-salmon-arm-silverbacks-vs-okotoks-oilers
