Okotoks, AB (December 6, 2025) – The Okotoks Oilers are excited to announce the acquisition of 2007-born left-handed defenceman Gabriel Smith (Brampton, ON) from the Blackfalds Bulldogs in exchange for Future Considerations.
Smith is in his first season with the BCHL, suiting up for 18 games so far during the 2025-2026 BCHL season, posting a goal and an assist. Smith previously played two seasons with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL, and was a mainstay during last season as he hit the ice 64 times for the Attack and produced a goal and three assists.
The Green Army saw Smith visit Okotoks twice this year while wearing a Bulldogs jersey, but now will see him represent the Green and Gold every time he comes to Viking Rentals Centre.
Smith is expected to make his debut tonight against the Saints at the VRC while donning the number 18. To see Smith play in his first game with the Oilers, make sure you have got your tickets for tonight’s game at: https://tickets.okotoksoilers.com/events/37871-spruce-grove-saints-vs-okotoks-oilers
