Okotoks, AB (August 28, 2026) – The Okotoks Oilers have acquired 2007-born defenceman Cohen Carter (Drayton Valley, AB) from the Trail Smoke Eaters in exchange for Future Considerations.

Carter spent last season with the Drayton Valley Thunder, suiting up for 53 games and posting eight points (1G, 7A) in the process. During the 2024-2025 season, the Alberta talent hit the ice for 30 games with the Smoke Eaters, producing a goal and three assists for his first season in the BCHL.

Before starting junior hockey, Carter spent time with the SAHA U18 Prep for the 2023-2024 season, finding twine four times and adding another five helpers for nine points in 29 games.

Carter also has ties to the Oilers, as he is a former teammate of Ben Deacon (St. Albert, AB) during the 2022-2023 season with the NAX U17 Prep squad.  Carter exploded with points with the U17 Prep team, as he posted 21 points (6G, 15A) in 34 games while splitting time with the U18 Prep squad, where he suited up for an additional six games.
