The Okotoks Oilers are probably glad this past weekend is over. In the three games they played, they lost 2 and won one.
The low point was the game in Olds against the Olds Grizzlys on Friday night where they gave up 2 late goals to lose 3-2.
The high point was the thrilling 3-2 overtime win against the league leading Spruce Grove Saints on Sunday afternoon.
Stuck in the middle was a frustrated Oilers team on Saturday night against the Sherwood Park Crusaders where they peppered the Crusaders goalie with 49 shots, only to get beat 5-2.
The big point getters this past weekend was Brandon Hoogenboom who scored in two games bringing his goals scored this season to a team high 15. Cody Dion had a goal and a assist and Jonathan Turk got 2 goals, including the overtime winner on Sunday against the Spruce Grove Saints.
Overall, John McInnis still leads the team in total points with 24, followed by Brandon Hoogenboom and Chris Duszynski, both with at 23 points, then Kyle Reynolds with 21 points.
The team presently stands in 5th. spot in the Southern Division of the AJHL with a 13 and 11 record for 26 points. We are 2 points behind the Canmore Eagles and 4 points behind the Brooks Bandits. We have games in hand of all the teams.
