Cody Dion opened the scoring at 6:19 of the first period when he breaks down the left side and cuts across the slot and backhands the puck past Canmore's goalie Sam Brittain. The Oilers then go on a powerplay but fail to muster a shot on goal. Okotoks go up 2 to 0 when the Oilers leading goal getter John McInnis fires a pinpoint shot into the Eagles net at 12:53. Canmore gets on the scoreboard when Lee Reimer scores from the slot on the powerplay at 17:12 and the period ends with the Oilers up 2 to 1.The Oilers outshoot the Eagles 15 to 13 and Canmore goes 1 for 2 on the powerplay.
The Oilers start the second period on the powerplay and once again, fail to get a shot on goal. Oiler defenseman James McNulty makes a good play to keep the puck in the Canmore end and at 10:14 of the period fires a shot that goes high, glove side and finds it's way into the net for a 3 to 1 Oiler lead. Canmore scores their second goal of the game at 12:30 when Jordan Bauer takes a pass from teammate Kory Roy and rifles a shot past Sean Cahill from the slot area. The Oilers run into penalty trouble for the remainder of the period and even get down 2 men, but the penalty killers come through to hold the Eagles off the scoresheet. The period ends with the Oilers hanging onto a 3 to 2. Canmore ends up outshooting the Oilers 11 to 10 in the period.
Canmore continue to press for the tying goal in the third period, but it is the Okotoks Oilers that gets the only goal off the stick of Cody Dion, his second goal of the game at 14:50 on a nice setup from Chris Duszynski and Brandon Hoogenboom and the Oilers win the game by a 4 to 2 margin.
